Hello my lovelies, today I’d like to talk about the importance of taking a moment to pause and breathe deeply. For it is when we are in the midst of living our busy hustle and bustle lives that we can so easily overlook the simple joys in everyday things. Learning how to find joy in everyday moments takes practice cultivating mindfulness and gratitude really enriches our everyday lives.

Learning Mindfulness, is simply learning how to be present in the moment, being fully aware of our thoughts and feelings. It’s a way to slow down and start to savor each experience embracing the small beautiful things in that moment. This is a practice we can learn to do and maybe do once or several times a day! How often have you paused in your day to appreciate life with all of it’s ups and downs.

As a Yogi, deep conscious breathing is something I practice regularly, to breathe with deep mindful intention, sit or lay comfortably, close or soften your eyes and notice the soft rise and fall of your chest, make each breathe inwards purposefully slow and long and each breathe out even longer, remain present and everytime you breathe out let go, let go of anything troubling you, anything no longer serving you and breathe in possibilities, strength and courage, allow each breath to create an invisible anchor.

Gratitude, most possibly one of the highest realms of being, gratitude can shift your energy more than most probably anything, why, because when we are grateful our whole body comes into alignment and our worries seem less, our aches and pains seem diminished. We become grateful for the acts of others, i.e. the wait staff that serving us at a restaurant, the checkout person at your local grocery store, the trash collectors, begin to get the idea! So I encourage you to make being grateful one of your biggest habits.

Overtime, you will notice that being mindful and grateful in the big and small things of life will have a direct impact on how you view yourself, your family, community and ultimately the world, sounds a bit heavy right, well give it a go, everytime you take a walk, notice the amazing wonders of nature, if you live in a cool winter environment where the leaves change in the season and fall be grateful, just like the tree, it understands that winter is coming and it pulls the sap back into the trunk, therefore the leaves must fall, but then there is the miracle of spring and the trees understand that warmer weather is coming and starts releasing the sap back to the branches and there in abundance are new leaves! My advise be like the tree, understand that there are ups and downs, also known as seasons in our lives, and just wait for spring because it’s coming!
